Ferdinando, an organic winemaker in the heart of the Barolo region, took over the company from his father in the late 1990s.
Initially he made very modern wines with a lot of wood, extract and alcohol. In 2004, Ferdinando completely changed course.
Biodynamic approach in the vineyard and no more artificial in the cellar.
Principiano's wines are incredibly pure and elegant. In the past year, the Barolo DOCG Serralunga 2015 was voted "wine of the year" in the "natural wine" category by the Thesis Wine Competition. The same honor came to the Barbera d'Alba DOC Laura 2016 in 2018.
